What is Universal Credit?
Universal Credit is a payment to help with your living costs if you are on a low income, out of work, or cannot work. It combines six benefits into one monthly payment:
- Jobseeker's Allowance
- Housing Benefit
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
Who Can Claim?
- You may be able to claim Universal Credit if:
- You are 18 or over (or 16-17 in certain circumstances)
- You are under State Pension age
- You have £16,000 or less in savings
- You live in the UK
